Hi There - what modifications should be done to the equation to calculate the surface of a spherical wedge to obtain the surface of the wedge with the hinge at diameter distance of the sphere?

I am trying to calculate the surface of the opening created by the disc of a swing check valve, where the hinge is located at one end of the periphery instead at the center of the sphere (radius based as shown in your website).

Using my personal email address rather my work's due to internal policies. I hope you would understand that.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Best regards

So if the hinge is at the diameter, that's basically a torus if you rotate the whole thing 360 degree, where the inner radius is 0. You could use the formula for a torus and then multiple the result with the angle of your opening.
